Spring Trees

Jenny writes: The afternoon light in these clear, blue-skied days have highlighted the beauty of trees coming into leaf. Woodland near my back garden is now outlined in lacy, pale green. Hawthorn and birch leaves are unfurling.

Hawthorn, one of the earliest trees to show their leaves, is a personal favourite. I love the rugged windblown shapes of bushes, their life affirming green leaves and buds heralding white ‘May blossom’.

Pines are showing their new cone growth, trunks casting long, lovely shadows across the ground. Close-up their bark becomes a rugged landscape. Breathe deep, fresh air, birdsong, the lovely green…

Happy nature gardening! Jenny
